Stade de Genève
Switzerland
Stade de Genève
is located in Carouge at the La Praille site in Lancy (greater Geneva). It is near the French border in the south-west of Switzerland. The multi-functional sporting arena was one of the four football stadiums in Switzerland that hosted
UEFA Euro 2008
matches.
After almost three years of construction work, Stade de Genève opened its doors in 2003. The sporting arena became the new home ground for
Servette
FC
when they moved from the smaller and dilapidated Stade des Charmilles. Servette FC, a Swiss First Division football team has taken home 17 Swiss titles, including the Swiss Cup on numerous occasions. The stadium has hosted a
UEFA Cup
match between
FC Sion
and Galatasaray in 2007 and most recently an
International Football Friendly
between Switzerland and
Cyprus
(20/08/08) and has also been used to host many rugby matches.
Stade de Genève
contains more than 30,000 covered seats. The structure also contains many entertainment and leisure facilities such as:
· a shopping complex with underground parking
· hospitality suites and a hotel
· a variety of restaurants
· a cultural centre
· offices, TV studios and conference facilities

Travelling by Train
Stade de Genève has its own railway station. The arena is directly linked to the Geneva RER network (the local electric train line), with the nearest stop being La Praille.
Travelling by Bus and Tram
From the city, bus lines 42 and 48 travel directly to the Stade de Genève. If travelling by tram, take Line D from Gare Cornavin.
