The End of Bayern and the End of Van Gaal

I do not know even where to start. Last night was the climate of our crisis and it looks like we will be knocked out of the Champions League in the first phase. The worst part is that we deserve it. Van Gaal might not be solely responsible for this, but partly.

He brought in Pranjic and Brafheid two players who might have been great in the Dutch league, but who do not have the class for Bayern or for Europe.

In addition we do not have a goalkeeper and the Bayern managers should have known this before the season. Rensing did not make it last year and Butt is mediocre at best.

But the main problem is the midfield: Tymoschuk and van Bommel together are even worse than each of them alone. We sent Ze Roberto to Hamburg and are left with MVB. A nightmare. You cannot play modern and fast football with these two players. In addition you have in Schweinsteiger a player that has been looking for his form for the last two years.

Why, why did we not buy a decent playmaker.

I am simply frustrated today.

I seriously believe that Bayern will be better off in the EL. They would be underdogs against almost everybody if they qualified for the next round in the CL , a relatively more successful period in the EL wouldn't do any harm for the team. The balance of the squad is terrible, the management has wasted tons of money in the recent years, BM should re-position themselves even in the Bundesliga. I am afraid, Mani, the football you are trying to play is archaic, it seems you miss intellectual flexibility; brute force working pointlessly. Again, chain of massive errors from the management both on individual and strategic level.

I think - the goalkeeper issue is really wirred ....how did they believe they will manage with Butt and Rensing ? .....i would suggest not to change the coach....it looks wirred, that a team like Bayern would have the 4th coach in 2 seasons ? .....very wirred what is going on....maybe to much criticism and expectations....this is not BAYERN...

In these cases, everyone is quick to blame the coach, but is that really the right thing to do? Remember, everyone hated Magath, then he took Wolfsburg from 15th to 5th, and then the title, and now has changed Schalke from nothing (last year) to title contenders. After Magath, Hitzfeld did pretty well, but we all seem to forget the long stints of 0-0 and 1-1 draws, plus that calamitous defeat to Zenit. Klinsmann was terrible, but given Van Gaal's failure, you've got to start holding the players accountable for their shortcomings. Take Van Bommel, who last night watched Gourcuff run past him and head in the opener. Take Klose, who hasn't scored in the Bundesliga. Is it really all Van Gaal's fault? This time, blame the players, not the coach.Real Madrid have also rotated coaches in rapid succession, but look where it's gotten them.

Mani, Tymoschuk was supposed to be the new leader in the bayern midfiled, obviously not a playmaker but the new strategist, with ribery and robben on the wing this should have been a great midfield....now robery are often injured and tymo seems highly overrated.... i agree that they made a number of mistakes this offseason, eg selling lucio, ze rob not buying a keeper etc...but as far as their performance in europe is concerned you have to say that ever since they won the c-league they have not been able to come close to challenging the top teams again, the gap got wider and wider every year...this year they tried to close the gap but they cant...someone mentioned expectaions, yes maybe they are too high, bayern didnt even win the bundesliga last year and are currently in 6th place in germany so why would you expect to be infront of the french champions and juve? when you compare the current team to the 2001 or 1999 team you just can not find characters like effe, loddar or kahn...."robery" are very good but are lacking leadership.... finally with regard to van gaal, i dont know but he seems to confuse everyone....changes his team 25 times, no one seems to have confidence besides mueller maybe...he should have tried all this in pre season not in the champions league...but maybe he just needs more time...

Mani, how abt Olic? i dont see enuff of Bayern to give an insightful comment, but knowing and reading abt Van Gaal, it seems he is stuck between the squad he has, and what he wants to achieve. remember how frustrating it could get for VG at Barca? if its true that Timo is used as a creative midfielder, definitely he's asking too much from a defensive player. Timo breaks opponents game... so, perhaps Steven Grosman in correct. Van Gaal needs more time and didn't do enough at pre-season. Btw, Gourcuff to Bayern anyone?
